Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician and Nutrition Advocate
Dr. Brian Lenzkes is an internal medicine doctor in San Diego who has been focusing a good part of his practice on clinical nutrition. He has owned his own medical practice with a group of physicians since 2004 and is also a professional speaker on health.
Dr. Lenzkes went to UC Irvine and received a BS in Biology before attending USC Medical School. After graduating in 1999, he started his Residency Program at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego and extended his residency for an extra year as Chief Resident before starting his private practice career at Internal Medicine Associates in 2004.
Dr. Lenzkes has been voted one of the “Top Doctors” in San Diego for 11 years. Even with gaining the respect of the medical community and his patients, he still felt a void as many patients with chronic conditions become more sick and require more medications. At the same time
Dr. Lenzkes battled his own weight gain while following ‘standard medical advice’.
His purpose as a trusted physician is to reduce his patients reliance on drug companies by helping them improve their quality of life through correct and monitored nutrition and living a systematically healthy lifestyle
Basically, the extent of nutritional training from medical school, residency, and private practice as follows: “Don’t eat fat, it is bad for you and clogs arteries. Take vitamins. Exercise more and eat less. Never skip breakfast, eat 6 small meals throughout the day so your metabolism doesn’t shut down.”
And he followed this advice his entire career. . . until he reached his highest weight in February of 2017 . . . all while working out 6 days per week for at least an hour and eating the recommended 6 small, lowfat meals daily. After struggling to maintain his pant size and waist, he would head into work and take care of patients who would ask him; “Doc, how do I lose weight? Isn’t there a pill I could take for this?” His response: “Don’t you think if I knew of a sure fast diet or “magic pill” I’d be doing it myself?”
Then he found out about lifestyle modifications that actually worked including the Ketogenic Diet and Intermittent Fasting (IF). He was initially surprised by the available science in this area and now overwhelmed by how vast it is and how many success stories are out there with this simple but powerful diet method.
How could the medical community at large not know about this?
After numerous hours of research, conferences and implementation, now Dr. Lenzkes would love to share his knowledge and personal experiences with you. He is currently down nearly 50 lbs after making some “evidence based” lifestyle changes.
We can improve or reverse metabolic diseases including Type 2 Diabetes, obesity, fatigue, and mood disorders while at the same time decreasing our risk for catastrophic diseases such as Cancer, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s Disease. There is no “magic pill” but there is a path forward if we have the courage to take the first step. He would love to help you on this journey and build a community to interact with others and see improvements first hand, as well as, help others you know that may benefit from a better quality of life.
Dr. Lenzkes gives lectures and workshops to private, church, school and business groups and to the general public.
