I will be traveling to Orlando later this week to attend and speak at the 62nd annual ASBP obesity conference.  It is a great honor to be presenting there to a national audience on Friday afternoon. Our talk will discuss low carbohydrate high fat (LCHF) and Ancestral diets. We will also explore food and healthcare politics and detail insulin resistance staging.

I have been a member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians since 2005.  This is a progressive group focusing on the medical management of obesity and overweight.  Although the group has not traditionally focused on carbohydrate restriction, this has been changing in recent years.  The previous president Mary Vernon, MD and president elect Eric Westman, MD as well as many others there continue to promote carbohydrate restricted nutrition.

The ASBP has also teamed up with the Nutrition and Metabolism society and during their spring conference the focus is carbohydrate restriction. The fall conference this week is more of a mixed bag.  This conference does not specifically focus on LCHF diets. I will be one of only two or three speakers specifically discussing carbohydrate restriction.

The audience will include almost 600 physicians and healthcare professionals, some whom may not be entirely familiar with carbohydrate restriction.  This will be a great opportunity to further spread the word about healthy nutrition redefined.

I look forward to attending the conference and hope to share what I learn.

Dr. Adam Nally and I would like to invite those attending the conference to dinner either Friday or Saturday night for a fun evening of networking. Please join us and let us know!
